Under the direction of director of choral activities at Del Mar College, Dennis Richardson will lead the DMC Concert Choir and community ensemble, the Del Mar Master Chorus, during a special tribute to selected composers born on the tenth year of given centuries dating back to 1510.
The choral ensembles will perform work by seven composers, including Pierre Certon and Andrea Gabrieli (1510), Giovanni Pergolesi and Thomas Arne (1710), Frederic Chopin and Robert Schumann (1810) and Samuel Barber (1910).
The choruses will each sing four selections independently and then combine their voices to perform four songs by Robert Schumann, including "A Lonely Boat Drifts Slowly," "Wenn Ich Ein Voglein War," "Let Sounds of Joy be Heard" and the ever-popular "Zigeuenerleben."
Student instrumentalists, along with keyboard accompanists Judy Mellenbruch and Yvonne Jaggard, will join the ensembles during the concert.
